"I can't be with you", The Cranberries. From 2nd album 'No need to argue' A E Lying in my bed again, F#m D And I cry cause you're not here. A E Crying in my head again, F#m D And I know that it's not clear. A Put your hands, put your hands E F#m D Inside my face and see that it's just you. A But it's bad, and it's mad, E And it's making me sad F#m D Because I can't be with you Chorus: A E F#m D Be with you, Be with you, Be with you, Be with you, A E Be with you, Be with you, F#m D Babe I can't be with you. Thinking back on how things were And how we loved so well I wanted to be the mother of your child And now it's just farewell Put your hands inside my hands And come with me, We'll find another end And my head, and my head On anyone's shoulder Cause I can't be with you. (Chorus) Cause you're not here, you're not here Baby I can't be with you Cause you're not here, you're not here And back I'm still in love with you. (ad. lib to end) Again, this sounds good on an electric-acoustic, using a Passac or DI and a bit of reverb - but don't go overboard! The best way to get the 'muffled' acoustic sound is to cut your fingernails and use no pick. Use your thumb and index finger on the strings, quickly raking, and your palm to slightly deaden the strings.. still, if you find a better way... ;) Use >5th barres for the chords (A == E @ 5th, E == A @ 7th, F#m == Am @ 7th, D == A @ 5th) when it starts getting going. Open chords sound good at the start, but once the rest of the band kicks in, the rapid raking of the barres sounds better. Haven't worked out the electric in the background yet, tho.

Then you kick your overdrive in and play the top 4 bass strings on each chord. I think there is 2 sets of this played ending with a long Em and then the verse. I tend to simulate the bass by playing softly on the strings and then the guitar bits much louder, if you listen to the CD this seems to be close to what they are doing e----------------------|---------------------- B----------------0--0--|----------------0--0-- G----------------0--0--|----------------0--0-- D---2-2-2-2-2-2--2--2--|---2-2-2-2-2-2--2--2-- A---2-2-2-2-2-2--------|---3-3-3-3-3-3-------- E----------------------|---------------------- ^ Let ring ^ Let ring e----------------------|-----2---------- B----------------------|-------3-------- G----------------0--0--|---------2------ Unsure about this bit D----------------0--0--|--0--------0---- A---2-2-2-2-2-2--2--2--|---------------- E---3-3-3-3-3-3--------|---------------- ^The lead comes in about here The lead riff is e---7h8--5h7--3h5--2h3p2--------- B------------------------3-3-0--- The verse varies a bit but is more or less based on the above. I haven't worked out the solo yet but seems to use two guitars one playing a riff based on the lead riff above (well at least it starts like that) e---7h8--5h7-7-7-7- Repeat Or something like that and then the other guitar comes over the top. Well thats about it, I did work out the little bass riff but I forget how it goes though it is based around E open, E third, A 5th, A 3rd and A open. Chords: 1st variant Fm Db G# Gm 2nd variant Em C G D/F# 3nd variant Em 02200x Cadd9 03200x G6 3200xx D/F# 2000xx This probably should be 20023x or something but I'm lazy Occasionally in the heavier parts I substitute Cadd9 for C/G (330210) for a bit of variety. Zombie, The Cranberries Another head hangs lowly Child is slowly taken And the violence caused such silence Who are we mistaken but you see, it's not me it's not my family in your head, in your head they are fighting Chorus With their tanks, and their bombs, and their bombs, and their guns In your head, in your head they are cryin' In your head, In your head Zombie, etc. What's in your head in your head, in your head Zombie, etc. Another mother's breakin' heart is taking over when the violence causes silence we must be mistaken it's the same old theme since 1916 in your head, in your head they're still fightin' Chorus VARIANT 2 "Zombie", The Cranberries. From their 2nd album 'No need to argue' The intro is repeated once during the song, in the 'break'. Needs to be played as 'clear' as possible, so turn them pedals off! Yeats grave by The Cranberries I suppose the intro sounds much better with this tab layout and easy to play with a capo.
